Nothing About Us Without Us
Youth voices in decisions that affect their lives
This session is a powerful reminder that young people must be actively involved in decisions that affect their lives. In schools. This means creating meaningful platforms where learners can speak openly about human rights, safety, mental health, discrimination, bullying, access to resources, and the quality of education they receive. When youth voices are included, policies and solutions become more relevant, practical, and effective because they reflect real lived experiences.
The JA! Project (Junior Advocacy) is a youth-led movement equipping learners to become confident advocates for health, dignity, and social change. Through school and community programmes, we address bullying, substance abuse, tobacco harm, mental health, gender-based violence and nutrition – empowering young people to lead solutions and build safer, healthier communities across South Africa.
