navigating dispossession and resistance – uMhlaba Talks
Land, dispossession, and resistance
Drawing from LARC’s research and uMhlaba Talks podcast conversations, the event will foreground lived experiences of communities navigating dispossession and resistance. Through facilitated discussion, the session will create space for reflection on how land struggles are inseparable from broader questions of democracy, accountability, and justice.
The Land and Accountability Research Centre (LARC) is based in the University of Cape Town’s Faculty of Law. LARC forms part of a collaborative network, constituted as the Alliance for Rural Democracy, which provides strategic support to struggles for the recognition and protection of rights and living customary law in the former homeland areas of South Africa.
