Immersive Launch of the Stilfontein Human Rights Impact Assessment
A multimedia look at rights, mining, and state action
The Environmental Rights Programme proposes an immersive, multimedia launch of its Human Rights Impact Assessment (HRIA) report into Stilfontein, with a particular focus on the human rights impacts of Operation Vala Umgodi (2024) and the improper closure of the Buffelsfontein Gold Mine.
Lawyers for Human Rights is an independent non profit and non-governmental human rights organisation founded in 1979 by a collective of activist lawyers committed to advancing social justice. LHR undertakes strategic work across six key areas of human rights law, led by specialist legal practitioners and activists. The organisation adopts a holistic approach to human rights enforcement that integrates strategic litigation, legal advice, law reform, advocacy, human rights education, and community mobilisation.
